Defense by WMA founder of Michael

Melissa Corken, the founder of the World Music Awards ceremony, defended Michael. In an interview with MTV UK News, she said: “Let me clarify the issue. Michael was coming to receive an award, not to perform. Not even one of his songs was prepared for performance. The media spread rumors that he would come on stage to perform Thriller. But he never intended to do such a thing. From the beginning, it was supposed to be Chris Brown performing in honor of this song.” She continued: “Michael was a little upset by the media rumors… He said, ‘I can’t perform Thriller because I haven’t done it in ten years.’” “He wasn’t really prepared to perform, but he wanted to do more than just receive an award. So he decided to sing part of We Are The World. He had the courage to do this performance.” While English tabloids have focused on the protest shouts of Michael’s fans at this ceremony, Melissa says that the overall atmosphere at the ceremony was good. “He performed at the World Music Awards twice, and this time it was even more explosive than before. I had never felt such energy. Over 10,000 people from all over the world came to this ceremony just to see him. I love Michael. Everyone thinks he’s a singing star, but he isn’t. He doesn’t need any titles. He’s just a really good, genuine man. I went there to see him and his beautiful children in their room at the hotel.” And contrary to the controversies that were raised about Michael’s appearance, Melissa said Michael looked fine: “He has beautiful skin and well-styled hair.
