Michael’s statement regarding the death of Ed Bradley

"I was very saddened to hear about the death of Ed Bradley (Ed Bradley — host of the 60 Minutes television program). Mr. Bradley was the first American Black man to work as a morning news announcer on television. He was a pioneer who set flawless standards in the profession of reporting and television journalism. Mr. Bradley alone removed barriers for America’s minority community. My family and I offer our condolences and prayers to Ed Bradley’s family and friends. May his soul rest in peace. On December 28, 2003, after being accused of sexual abuse, in his first interview with Ed Bradley on 60 Minutes, Michael strongly denied these accusations and said that he would cut his wrist before he would harm a child. Michael added that the police’s raid on Neverland had disrupted his privacy, and for that reason he no longer wants to live there. He said: “It’s now a residence. It’s no longer a home. I’ll just visit it from now on.” Michael also talked about the injury he had suffered on November 21, the day of his arrest by police at the Santa Barbara airport in the state of California, caused by the handcuffs on his wrists, and also about the police violence that caused his shoulder to dislocate. He said that he is currently enduring a great deal of pain. He also said that when he requested to use the restroom, he was taken into a very dirty and foul-smelling bathroom and kept there for 45 minutes.
