Owner of rental jets fined

The owner of a company that rented jet planes—who had been accused of illegally recording conversations between Michael and his lawyer during a flight in 2003—was sentenced by a judge to six months of home confinement. Sixty-year-old Jeffrey Borer pleaded guilty earlier this year. He and his accomplice, Arvel Jett Reeves, had installed recording equipment on the jet plane that Michael’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, and Michael were taking from Las Vegas to Santa Barbara, hoping to sell the tape to the media for a good price. Reeves was sentenced in July to eight months in prison. Borer was ordered to serve his six months of home confinement due to his illness and his wife’s medical condition, which the judge considered a compelling circumstance.
