Janet: Michael used to make fun of me
Janet Jackson has recently revealed that as a child, Michael used to tease her for being overweight. And this made her develop serious concerns about her weight.
In an interview with the English magazine Q Magazine, Janet said: "Michael always made me feel like a fat kid. He would say, 'Your body should look like this.' And he would show me a picture that had been printed in a magazine."
Janet continued: "He was a very happy and lively child when he was young. But during his teenage years, he became a subject of public debate. That’s when he withdrew into himself and started calling me fat. He said he was doing it out of pity and affection. It really affected me—even when I was an adult."
And that’s what led Janet Jackson to become determined to have a pencil-thin figure. She said that Michael’s little jabs and hints were the main reason her weight dropped.
Janet had recently lost 18 kilos to play a role in the film Tennessee. But because this project overlapped with her new album’s work schedule, the role was given to Mariah Carey.
