Shafell’s Legal Filing: Another Start for Michael Jackson
Michael’s decision to take his former business partner to court signals a fresh start for him in his financial life.
L. Londlee McMillan, a New York attorney who attended every court session regarding Mark Shafell’s lawsuit against Michael, said of the case: "Settling this matter before it was filed in court would have been less costly for both sides, and it would have benefited them. But Mr. Shafell’s claim is unreasonable, and Mr. Jackson has taken a new approach to dealing with people who try to get money from him inappropriately in advance of their claims."
"This is a very important case. For Michael, it marks the beginning of a new era in fighting false and fabricated claims and taking responsibility for his financial and business affairs."
McMillan, who was appointed by Michael last month to handle his financial matters, said that Michael has been victimized by a group of financial advisers who appear to all belong to the same circle and have similar motivations.
"For Mr. Jackson, this court will be the start of a fight to defeat all of them." He added: "The outcome of this trial depends on the jury’s verdict. But the key is getting the case in front of the court. This gives Michael Jackson the opportunity to take a new approach to his finances."
