Liz Taylor Denied the Rumor of Alzheimer’s

According to Roger Friedman:

Last night, Elizabeth Taylor, a famous film star, appeared in a live interview with Larry King broadcast on CNN.

In the interview, Liz said she does not have Alzheimer’s, but she can’t remember some of her memories.

“Stop it. Does it really look like I’ve got Alzheimer’s or that I’m dying? The tabloid newspapers write things like that just because they don’t have anything else to write.”

But Larry King also forgot to ask about the reason for his silence during the five months of Michael’s trial last year. The $637,000 jewel that Michael had given her as a thank-you for her appearance in the 2003 interview (in response to the controversial interview by Martin Bashir) was another question Larry King didn’t ask.

Liz had asked Michael to give her a necklace as a gift for appearing in the interview. According to claims by Mark Shaffel, Michael’s former business partner, at the time he didn’t have the cash needed to buy the jewel, so he borrowed money from Mark Shaffel to buy a gift for his friend Liz.

Another topic that was not discussed in last night’s interview was Michael’s absence from Liz’s birthday celebration on February 27, 2003 at the Bel Air Hotel. At the time, it was said that Michael and Liz’s relationship had become somewhat unstable. Liz had asked Michael for a gift, and Michael, in return, had invited her to Neverland. But when Liz arrived at Neverland after traveling three hours from Beverly Hills, there was no sign of Michael. A bad memory for Liz—one she may have forgotten, like some of her other memories.
