Key Prosecution Witness Declared Unreliable

One of Michael Jackson’s former bodyguards—who was expected to be called by the prosecution to testify in court—has been sent to prison for four counts of armed robbery, kidnapping, theft, and carrying an illegal weapon.

Christopher Eric Carter, who was scheduled to testify in court next Wednesday, worked for Jackson from August 2002 to August 2003. The 25-year-old guard was expected to testify that he once saw the complainant intoxicated and that the boy told him that Michael Jackson had encouraged him to drink alcohol.

The prosecution team had high hopes that by having Carter testify in court and stating that he had seen Jackson and the complainant drinking alcohol, they could change the course of the trial in their favor.

Carter was arrested for drugs for the first time in 2000, but he managed to escape from trial. Still, the prosecution’s request to have him appear in court and testify on his behalf was approved.
