Judge Melville will not subpoena Martin Bashir to court

Judge Melville rejected the defense team’s request to subpoena Martin Bashir (the producer of the two television documentaries “Living with Michael Jackson” in 2003 and “Michael Jackson’s Secret World” in 2005) to appear in court. No reason for denying the request has yet been announced by the court.

The defense attorneys believe that, with his new documentary (Michael Jackson’s Secret World), Martin Bashir violated the court’s order prohibiting any comments about this case, and by interviewing a witness (Carey Feldman) for a special television documentary, he also forced that witness to violate the court’s order.

Martin Bashir believes that because he is a journalist, he is not subject to the court’s order.

The prosecutor’s office also submitted a brief to the court opposing the defense attorneys’ request to show new executions of Michael Jackson, their interviews, and the children’s visit footage to Neverland in December, in order to balance the impact that this new documentary could have on the members of the jury.
